Pest Control and Exterminator Service in St. Davids, PA

St. Davids is the Paoli/Thorndale Line stop between Wayne and Radnor, and within a short walk of the platform you'll find Eastern University's campus, Lancaster Avenue storefronts and quiet streets of 1950s houses. Pest control in St. Davids, PA, has to cover all three. Our family business is based in Media, about 25 minutes (11 miles) south. Census (ACS) estimates give St. Davids a median build year of 1958 and a renter share near 39%, high for the Main Line because of student and apartment housing.

Campus housing, Lancaster Avenue shops and 1950s Radnor homes

Student housing and apartments push the renter share up, and bed bugs travel with luggage and secondhand furniture at the start and end of each semester. Shared laundry rooms and hallways let them move between units.

The single-family streets have big shade trees and wooded backyards. That brings carpenter ants into damp roof edges, mice into garages each fall, and yellow jackets into ground nests along lawn borders. Leaf litter and ground cover under those trees also keep the soil soft for the yellow jacket nests that surface in August.

Many of the 1950s houses here are brick and stone ranches and colonials with full basements, attached one-car garages and screened porches. After nearly 70 years, garage door seals, basement window frames and the wood thresholds of porch doors are the usual mouse entries, and finished basements over block walls can hide termite tubes behind paneling.

Mature oaks and tulip poplars shade roofs so heavily that gutters stay wet, and branches touching the roof give squirrels and carpenter ants a bridge. Off-campus rentals in older single houses and small apartment buildings near Lancaster Avenue bring German cockroaches in with used appliances, and shared hallways spread them quickly.

Up the Blue Route from Media to St. Davids

I-476 runs nearly door to door: the Route 30 exit puts us on Lancaster Avenue about 25 minutes after leaving Media. Thom and his crew look things over at no charge and put the quote in writing. For apartments and student rentals, we'll ask about adjoining units before we arrive so the first visit covers them.

Eastern University, St. Davids station and Radnor neighbors

St. Davids is an unincorporated community in Radnor Township, home to Eastern University's campus and St. Davids Square on Lancaster Avenue. Wayne sits just west on the same rail line. The community takes its name from Old St. David's Church, the colonial-era Episcopal church whose churchyard holds the grave of General Anthony Wayne. Eastern University's wooded campus, with its older buildings and residence halls, sits a short walk from the station, and its academic calendar sets the rhythm of rental turnover nearby. St. Davids Square and the other Lancaster Avenue storefronts back onto parking lots and service lanes, where dumpsters draw rats and yellow jackets. Local public school students attend the Radnor Township School District, whose schools follow Act 35's integrated pest management and notification rules. Because St. Davids has no borough government of its own, permits and code questions for these addresses go to Radnor Township.

Thom is a top-notch pest control specialist! And is one of the most genuine guys in the industry. He came to inspect a situation I had going on at the house, took his time, offered detailed advice, and didn’t take a penny.

Questions from St. Davids homeowners

Do you handle bed bugs in St. Davids student rentals?

Yes. Semester move-ins and move-outs are the riskiest times, since luggage and used furniture travel between dorms, apartments and family homes. We inspect the reported room and its neighbors, explain how to prepare, and quote the treatment in writing. Students and landlords can both call; see apartment bed bug treatment for multi-unit work.

Can you service a shop or restaurant on Lancaster Avenue?

We can. Retail and food businesses along Lancaster Avenue begin with a no-cost inspection and a quote on paper, then scheduled visits aimed at mice, cockroaches and flies. Offices usually need less, often a seasonal visit focused on ants and occasional invaders.

Why do carpenter ants show up in St. Davids homes in spring?

Big shade trees and damp wood. Carpenter ants nest in moisture-softened wood around roof edges, window sills or decks, then forage indoors in spring. Trimming branches that touch the roof and fixing leaks removes what they need, and treatment then targets the nest. See carpenter ant control.
