Pest Control and Exterminator Service in Yeadon, PA

Where Yeadon's twin homes run up to Cobbs Creek and the Philadelphia line, pests ignore property lines and municipal ones alike. No Bugs Exterminator serves the whole borough, about 20 minutes (roughly 9 miles) east of our Media office. Two Census (ACS) numbers explain most of the pressure here: a 1951 median build year, and 55% of households renting, among the highest renter shares in Delaware County. Older attached houses plus frequent move-ins let mice, cockroaches and bed bugs travel door to door.

Post-War Twins, Rental Turnover and the Cobbs Creek Edge

Yeadon's twins share a center wall, and often a basement line, roof framing and utility runs as well. Mice travel those voids easily, and once German cockroaches settle in one half, the other half usually follows.

With more than half of households renting, units turn over often, and secondhand furniture and moving boxes carry bed bugs in. On the borough's eastern side, Cobbs Creek and its wooded park strip hold water and shade, which means mosquitoes in summer and rodents leaving the banks for basements when it turns cold.

Houses from the 1940s and early '50s also show their age below grade: clay or cast-iron sewer laterals, patched coal-chute openings and floor drains that dry out in summer. Norway rats follow broken laterals in from the creek side, and a dry drain trap lets drain flies and the odd American cockroach climb up from the sewer.

Wooden rear stoops and porch floors soften after decades of weather, which suits carpenter ants. Because the two halves of a twin often have different owners, or a landlord on one side and an owner-occupant on the other, treatment here works best when both sides agree on timing.

Yeadon Between Cobbs Creek, Church Lane and the City Line

Yeadon borders Philadelphia along Cobbs Creek and sits beside Lansdowne and Darby, with East Lansdowne close by. Church Lane carries traffic through the borough. Students attend the William Penn School District, and its public schools must follow Pennsylvania's Act 35 integrated pest management plan requirements. Two large cemeteries shape the borough's edges: Mount Moriah, which straddles the Philadelphia line along Cobbs Creek, and Holy Cross. Their old trees, mowed lawns and overgrown back sections give groundhogs, mice and shade-resting mosquitoes plenty of room, and homes that back onto them see more of all three. Across the line, Philadelphia's Cobbs Creek Park continues the wooded strip south. Pest problems in Yeadon tend to follow a few patterns: a mouse problem shared through the party wall, cockroaches in a rental kitchen, a bed bug find after a move, or summer mosquitoes in a yard near the creek.

Questions from Yeadon homeowners

My neighbor in our Yeadon twin has mice. Will treating my side work?

Treating one side helps, but mice use the shared wall and basement line, so results last much longer when both halves are treated and sealed. We inspect your side first, show you any openings into the shared void and seal and trap there. If your neighbor agrees, we can quote their side as well.

Why are mosquitoes so bad near Cobbs Creek?

The creek's slow pools and the wooded park strip give mosquitoes breeding and resting spots. Most yard biting, though, comes from water within a few houses: gutters, buckets, recycling bins and kiddie pools. We treat resting areas and breeding spots through the warm months and show you what to dump weekly.

I'm moving into a Yeadon rental. Should I check for bed bugs first?

Yes, and it takes only a few minutes. Before your furniture goes in, look along mattress seams, bed frames and baseboards for small dark spots, shed skins or live bugs. If you find signs, tell the landlord in writing and call us for a free inspection before unpacking.
