Deep Run farmland, woodlots and Route 611 subdivisions
Crop fields and pastures surround many neighborhoods, so harvest and the first frosts send field mice toward garages and basements. Barns and outbuildings on older properties give rats and mice shelter year-round.
Streams, farm ponds and wet meadows breed mosquitoes from June into September, while hedgerows carry deer and ticks onto lawns. Late-1980s decks and sill plates are now old enough to draw subterranean termites.
Upper Bucks farmhouses here are often fieldstone, built in stages, with a frame kitchen wing or a modern addition joined to the original walls. Every joint between old stone and newer framing is a likely gap, and the bank barns standing beside many of them hold hay, feed and equipment that rodents, wasps and carpenter bees all use. Weathered barn siding and unpainted trim are favorite drilling spots for carpenter bees in May.
The late-1980s subdivisions off Route 611 bring a different list: attached garages, vinyl siding, decks built low to the ground and mulch beds against poured foundations. With about one home in five rented, farm tenant houses and rented single homes on the back roads add turnover, and every move is a chance for bed bugs or roaches to come along in boxes and furniture.

Farm-edge pest control across Bedminster

Rodent Control
Mice and rats move from fields and barns into homes as fall turns cold. The seams where a newer addition meets an old fieldstone wall are where we find most entry gaps.

Mosquito Control
Farm ponds, streams and wet meadows keep mosquitoes and ticks close. Shaded hedgerows between fields are where adults rest by day, so that is where treatment goes.

Termite Control
Late-1980s decks and sill plates are now within termites' range. Low decks and mulch against poured foundations in Route 611 neighborhoods keep the soil moist where termites forage.

Pest Control Service
Covers ants, wasps, spiders and stink bugs on country lots. Seasonal visits keep paper wasps off porches and stink bugs out of attic vents on rural properties.
Learn more →
Rat Control
Norway rats dig under bank barns, corn cribs and chicken coops on Bedminster farms, then follow fence lines and drainage ditches toward houses once the fields are cleared in fall.
Learn more →
Fly Control
Pasture, manure and horse stables on nearby farms raise house and stable flies all summer, and farmhouses with old wooden screen doors and window gaps get the most indoors.
Learn more →
Carpenter Bee Control
Carpenter bees bore into weathered barn boards, porch rafters and unpainted fascia across Bedminster's farmsteads, and woodpeckers chasing the larvae inside often do even more damage.

Bedminster near Dublin, Plumsteadville and the Pennridge area
Bedminster is part of the Pennridge School District and sits next to the borough of Dublin, with the village of Plumsteadville just south on Route 611 and East Rockhill Township to the west. Route 611 is the township's main road, running north from Plumsteadville through open farm country toward the upper end of the county, with Deep Run's farms and Mennonite congregations spread across the back roads on either side. Lake Nockamixon and its state park lie a short drive north, and the Tohickon Creek winds through the area on its way east to the Delaware River at Point Pleasant. Pennridge schools, like all Pennsylvania public schools, follow integrated pest management plans required by Act 35 of 2002. Those surroundings shape the work: rats and mice around barns and farmhouses, flies and carpenter bees on farmsteads, ticks and mosquitoes near ponds and creeks, and termite checks on late-1980s homes.

Questions from Bedminster Township homeowners
What helps keep mice out of a Bedminster farmhouse in winter?
Seal before you trap. Old stone foundations, porch steps and seams where newer additions meet original walls let mice in, often through openings no bigger than a dime. Steel wool, mortar and metal flashing close them, and traps along basement walls handle what's already inside. Keep feed and birdseed in metal cans, since barns and feeders draw mice toward the house.
Can mosquitoes breed in a Bedminster farm pond?
Mostly at the edges. Open water with fish and wind keeps larvae down, but shallow, weedy margins, hoof prints and overflow puddles near a pond hold them well. Trimming edge vegetation, keeping water moving where you can and treating shaded shrubs where adults rest all help. Our natural mosquito control page covers lower-impact options.
