Pest Control and Exterminator Service in East Nottingham Township, PA

Route 1 is the thread connecting our Media office to East Nottingham Township: follow it southwest for about 70 minutes (43 miles) and you reach the farmland surrounding Oxford. It's a longer drive, so No Bugs Exterminator schedules East Nottingham visits ahead. Newer subdivisions built into old crop fields are the story here, and they bring field mice, ticks and termites to houses that are often less than 30 years old.

New Homes on Old Cropland Around Oxford

Census (ACS) estimates put the median build year at 1999, and only about 9% of homes are rented. Many sit on former crop and pasture land, so the mice and voles that lived there simply moved to the lawn edge.

Backfilled soil and wood buried during grading can feed subterranean termites, and farm ponds and low pastures keep mosquitoes and ticks active from spring into fall.

This corner of southern Chester County is still working agriculture: corn, soybeans, hay, dairy barns and equipment sheds, with subdivisions fitted between farms rather than replacing them. When combines move through in fall, the mice and voles living under the crop head for the closest dry shelter, and in a subdivision built on that same field the closest shelter is a garage. Manure spreading and silage pits on nearby farms also raise fly numbers in late summer.

Homes from around 1999 here are mostly vinyl-sided colonials and ranches on poured or block basements, with sump pumps, decks and septic systems on lots of an acre or more. Rural lots like these often have a wet corner where runoff collects, and that soggy ground suits both mosquitoes and termites. Long hedgerows and wooded stream valleys between farms shelter deer, so blacklegged ticks reach lawns even where no forest is visible from the house.

Oxford, Nottingham and Southern Chester County

East Nottingham wraps around much of the borough of Oxford and is part of the Oxford Area School District. We also serve Lower Oxford Township and Nottingham nearby. The US 1 expressway passes through the township on its way toward the Maryland line, with interchanges serving Oxford and the Nottingham crossroads, where Route 272 meets it. Route 10 runs north into the borough of Oxford, which East Nottingham surrounds on several sides, and the Mason-Dixon line lies only a few miles south. The township belongs to the Oxford Area School District. Land use is a patchwork of farms, newer subdivisions, scattered businesses near the Route 1 interchanges and some older farmhouses along country roads. The calls we expect are fall rodent sealing at garages, tick and mosquito treatments on large lots, termite inspections on homes passing the age of their original soil treatment and stink bugs on sunny siding.

Questions from East Nottingham Township homeowners

My East Nottingham home is new construction. Do I still need a termite inspection?

It's worth one after the first few years. Builders often treat soil before construction, but that barrier weakens over time, and scrap wood buried during grading can feed a colony. Look for mud tubes on the foundation. Our new home pest control page covers what newer houses need.

Why do I see mice every October in a house surrounded by fields?

Harvest and the first cold nights remove food and cover in the fields, and your garage and basement are the closest shelter. Mice squeeze through gaps the size of a dime, often at garage door corners and AC line entries. Sealing in early fall works better than trapping later.
