A farm-country market town with many rentals
When crops come off the surrounding fields in fall, mice lose cover and move toward the nearest buildings. Older downtown blocks with upstairs apartments give them, and German cockroaches, easy paths between units.
A renter majority means frequent move-ins, and bed bugs travel in furniture and bags. Rural yards nearby add stink bugs, boxelder bugs and wasps around barns and sheds.
The borough's median hides two kinds of housing. Downtown, brick and frame buildings from the 1800s and early 1900s have storefronts at street level and apartments above, with porches, cellars and rear additions that settled over many years. Around the edges sit apartment complexes, townhomes and single homes from the 1970s onward, many on slabs or block foundations with wood decks.
In the older blocks, one cellar can serve a shop and two or three apartments, and German cockroaches follow the plumbing upstairs from a commercial kitchen into residential ones. Wood porches built close to grade and sills resting on old stone give subterranean termites easy access, and damp cellars draw centipedes and camel crickets.
Farm country starts at the borough line. Grain bins, feed rooms and equipment sheds hold mice and Norway rats year-round, and hedgerows between fields carry deer and blacklegged ticks toward edge-of-town yards. Farm ponds and low pasture breed mosquitoes on warm evenings.

What Oxford households and businesses need most

Rodent Control
Harvest season pushes field mice from surrounding farms into borough homes and shops. We seal gaps around cellar doors, pipe entries and garage corners, then trap inside until the activity stops.

Bed Bug Treatment
With most homes rented, bed bugs arrive with move-ins and used furniture. We inspect beds, furniture seams and baseboards, and recommend checking apartments that share a wall or ceiling with the reported unit.

Insect Control
Stink bugs and boxelder bugs gather on farm-edge houses each fall. We treat sunny exterior walls in September and seal window trim and attic vents before the bugs settle into wall voids.

Pest Control Service
Scheduled visits suit a longer-distance town and keep spiders and ants in check. We also handle ants trailing in along slab edges and centipedes in damp downtown cellars on those planned visits.

Cockroach Control
Downtown Oxford buildings with shops below and apartments above share plumbing, so German roaches move from commercial kitchens into homes upstairs. We bait every connected space we can reach and seal pipe gaps.

Termite Control
Wood porches built close to grade and sills resting on old stone cellars in downtown Oxford give termites a short path to framing. We probe porch posts, sills and cellar framing for activity.

Scheduling the US 1 trip from Media to Oxford

Route 10, Lincoln University and the southern Chester County farms
Oxford sits on Route 10 just off the US 1 bypass, bordered by Lower Oxford Township and East Nottingham, and a short drive from Lincoln University. Third Street holds the downtown business district, with shops, restaurants and the apartments above them, and the US 1 expressway passes just north of town. The Octoraro Creek valley and the Lancaster County line lie a few miles west, and the Maryland line a few miles south, so most land around the borough is cropland, pasture and woodlots. Oxford Area School District buildings, like every public school in the state, follow an Act 35 pest management plan. The borough also falls inside PDA's lanternfly quarantine zone. Given that setting, we plan Oxford visits around a few likely needs: building-wide roach and bed bug work for downtown landlords, mouse and rat sealing after harvest, and termite checks on old porches and cellars. Grouping several southern Chester County appointments on one day keeps the long drive practical.

Questions from Oxford homeowners
How soon can you get to Oxford from Media?
It is roughly a 70-minute drive, so we book Oxford visits ahead rather than offering same-day trips on short notice. Call early in the week and we will find the first open slot, often pairing your visit with other southern Chester County appointments. You still get a free inspection and a written quote.
Why do I get mice every October in Oxford?
Harvest and cold arrive together. As corn and soybean fields are cut and nights drop, field mice lose food and cover at once and head for buildings. Sealing gaps around pipes, doors and foundation vents in September, then trapping any that slip in, prevents most fall infestations. See mouse control.
